Dramatically positioned atop snowy Utsuvaara Hill in the prestigious ski resort of Levi, Laavu is an incredible seven-bedroom log chalet lavishly decorated with natural wood, plush furniture and cosy open fireplaces. Guests enjoy the use of a spacious sauna and gourmet meals prepared by your own private chef.

Your luxurious abode is bedecked to celebrate an authentic Finnish Christmas and you’ll spend this afternoon getting into the yuletide spirit – baking festive biscuits, decorating a real Christmas tree and playing snow games with a visiting elf. After breakfast, embark on a thrilling snowmobiling adventure, zipping past arctic forests and over frozen lakes as you explore the pristine snowy landscape. You’ll also have the chance to try ice fishing in frozen lakes, learning local techniques to catch hardy species of fish such as pike and perch which survive in Lapland’s freezing temperatures, before preparing your catch for lunch with the chef and feasting on the fruits of your labour.

This afternoon is a real highlight of the trip – snowmobiling to the Northern Lights. Caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun entering the earth's atmosphere, this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon fills the sky with an eerie glow of green and pink clouds, streamers, arcs and shooting rays.

Waking up in Lapland on Christmas morning is an unforgettably magical experience. After enjoying a lavish festive breakfast prepared by your private chef, you’ll enjoy a reindeer-pulled sleigh ride through your fairy-tale surroundings, speeding over powdery snow as you cross the enchanting forest landscape. There’s an opportunity to visit the native sami reindeer herders, learning about their fascinating nomadic history and rich cultural heritage of farming these fabled creatures.

This afternoon you’ll be treated to a private visit with Santa Claus in a secret forest hut, where he’ll present the whole family with Christmas presents, before returning to the Northern Lights on a snowshoe safari. Donning traditional snowshoes, you’ll explore the wintry wilderness on foot while watching for a glimpse of the wondrous lights and tuck into warming snacks over a campfire. End the perfect Christmas Day with another specially prepared dinner back at the chalet.
